Local (River Lea/Olympic Park) Walk

01/28/2026 10:30 01/28/2026 00:00 Europe/London Local (River Lea/Olympic Park) Walk We have a further walk now booked for: Wednesday 28 January 2026,  a prompt 10 30 am Join us for a lively midweek stroll following the River Lea from Bromley-by-Bow to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with plenty of local history, nature-spotting, and some personal reminiscences from our walk leader, Gregory, along the way Meet: Entrance/exit to Bromley-by-Bow station Bromley-by-Bow → Bow Locks (take extra care crossing Devas Street) → River Lee Navigation towpath → Three Mills (quick detour to flood markers if time allows) → Old River Lea towpaths → Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park → finish at Hackney Bridge (for Nico’s) and/or Timber Lodge (toilets and refreshments available at both) Distance & pace: About 3 miles (4 8 km), 2 to 2½ hours Mostly flat and paved Good to know: Seating is very limited, so this walk isn’t ideal if you need frequent sit-down breaks Well-behaved dogs are welcome We suggest keeping them on leads because of cyclists and other towpath users Wrap up with a well-earned drink and a chat at Hackney Bridge or Timber Lodge Hope you can make it Please reply to gregoriojmoffatt@gmail com to confirm attendance

Join us for a lively midweek stroll following the River Lea from Bromley-by-Bow to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with plenty of local history, nature-spotting, and some personal reminiscences from our walk leader, Gregory, along the way.

Meet: Entrance/exit to Bromley-by-Bow station

Bromley-by-Bow → Bow Locks (take extra care crossing Devas Street) → River Lee Navigation towpath → Three Mills (quick detour to flood markers if time allows) → Old River Lea towpaths → Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park → finish at Hackney Bridge (for Nico’s) and/or Timber Lodge (toilets and refreshments available at both)

Distance & pace: About 3 miles (4.8 km), 2 to 2½ hours. Mostly flat and paved.

Good to know:

  • Seating is very limited, so this walk isn’t ideal if you need frequent sit-down breaks.
  • Well-behaved dogs are welcome. We suggest keeping them on leads because of cyclists and other towpath users.

Wrap up with a well-earned drink and a chat at Hackney Bridge or Timber Lodge.

 All events are £10, no refunds. The sessions from June will launch on Thursday 21st May 2026
